2001The MACBA (The Contemporary Art Museum of Barcelona) helds the exhibition Histories without argument: the cinema of Pere Portabella. His work becomes part of the artistic collection of the Museum.
2002He’s invited to Documenta 11 of Kassel as the only Spanish artist invited in the showing. Screenings of Umbracle, Informe General and Pont de Varsòvia.
2003Centre George Pompidou makes a tribute to Pere Portabella and acquires a copy ofNocturn 29. No conteu amb els dits, Nocturn 29, Umbracle, Vampir-Cuadecuc, Miró l’altre, Informe General and Pont de Varsòvia were screened.
2004Invited in the exhibition Experiments with truth at The Fabric Workshop and Museum of Philadelphia, curated by Mark Nash. Screenings of the films Umbracle, Informe General and Pont de Varsòvia.
2006Retrospective in BAFICI, 8º Buenos Aires Festival Internacional de Cine Independiente.

2007A retrospective of Portabella’s cinema takes place at the Museum of Modern Art of New York (MoMA). Die Stille vor Bach, was screened as the Northamerican Premiere. Pont de Varsòviawas presented by Jonathan Demme.
The Catalan Center, The King Juan Carlos I of Spain and the Center for European and Mediterranean Studies organize the Symposium: Pere Portabella a Catalan Master filmmaker in New York (at last).
The Chicago Gene Siskel Film Center also screens Die Stille vor Bach which was specially presented by Jonathan Rosenbaum.
Pere Portabella received the Mikeldi de Honor in the 49th International Documentary and Short Film Festival in Bilbao (ZINEBI).
2008The four Short films on Miró participated in the exhibition Miró:Earth held at the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid.
The Museum of Modern Art of New York (MoMA) acquires a copy of Vampir-Cuadecuc and Die Stille vor Bach.
The film Mudanza was especially made to be part of the exhibition Everstill commissioned by Hans Ulrich Obrist that took place in La Huerta de San Vicente, Casa/Museo de Federico García Lorca, in Granada.
