The filmmaker Pere Portabella will be honoured at the Most Festival, International Wine Festival of Vilafranca del Penedès 20201, with an Honorary Award “for a long career marked by the most suggestive and committed ideological film experimentation. As a producer, he defied censorship with Los golfos, by Carlos Saura, or Viridiana, by Luis Buñuel. In the 1960s, the filmmaker from Figueres, Girona, was one of the leading exponents of the Barcelona School and during the Transition he was involved in politics, only to return to film years later with works such as Pont de Varsòvia (1989), his participation in the choral documentary ¡Hay motivo! (2004) and Die Stille vor Bach (2007)”.
The award ceremony will take place on June 13th 2021, together with the screening of the film Pont de Varsòvia on June 9th, introduced by Esteve Riambau, Filmoteca de Catalunya’s director.
